A trail mix is usually a mixture of nuts and dried fruits which was originally enjoyed by trekkers, campers and walkers. It makes the perfect afternoon snack and gives a good boost of energy. It is easy to make and to carry around whether it is to work or school or even treks.
Here is a high protein trail mix recipe
½ cup mix seeds of your choice (pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, flax seeds, etc)
½ cup dry roasted edamame OR dried coconut (optional)
½ cup mixed nuts (Almonds, pistachios, walnuts, etc)
½ cup mixed dried fruit (raisins, dates, cranberries, bananas, etc)
Ingredients required to make protein balls
2 tablespoons peanut butter
2 tablespoons chocolate chips/ chunks
1 ½ tablespoon milk
1 scoop OZiva Protein & Herbs (any flavour)
½ cup oats
Directions to make the protein balls
Take the peanut butter, chocolate and milk in a bowl. Melt the peanut butter, chocolate and milk together (either on stove using double boiler method or microwave). Take it off the heat and mix in the protein powder and dry oats.
Make small balls with your hands to shape these protein balls and place them on parchment paper. Place these balls in the fridge to be cooled.
Directions to make the high protein trail mix
Take a ziplock bag and put in the seeds, edamame, nuts and dried fruit. Remove the protein balls from the freezer and add them to the ziplock bag.
Shake the bag thoroughly and enjoy. Store in a airtight jar.
